A short video: Photo Sharing in Plain English

Flickr is an online photo management system that allows users to upload, group, map and share their photos with people all over the world. 1 picture can say a thousand words!

Follow this link to my Flickr account.
Main Features/Advantages:
  • You can upload a group of photos and then assign them tags.
  • They can be placed into groups.
  • Notes and comments can be placed on the photos.
  • Photos can be assigned to a destination (mapped).
  • Flickr can be connected to blogging and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
  • You can use the embed code to place slideshows onto other websites.
  • Drag and drop ease of organisation.
  • Make stuff! Make printed cards and other gifts.
  • You can join groups
  • You can advance search for CC - common license photos for you to use.

How I Would Use This Tool:
This is a great tool. Personally I would use this site to back up all my photos and then to have them organised so I can get them with ease. It is also great to use to share the photos with family and friends. The slide show embedding is great for me as I can use this in other websites.

For the classroom, it would be a great way to keep the class in touch with the parents. You could make a private page to share the photos that are taken in class and on excursions (permitting that there are no at risk children in the class).
